Fely Tchaco Appearing Live

Red Poppy Art House, 2698 Folsom Street at 23rd, San Francisco, CA

In celebration of the 37th Annual Carnaval San Francisco, the Red Poppy Art House presents a weekend of performances highlighting music from Ivory Coast and the African Diaspora, featuring La Mixta Criolla (Fri 5/22) and Fely Tchaco (Sat 5/23). Fely Tchaco is an award-winning singer-songwriter/performer and Billboard nominee from the Ivory Coast. Her music is a fusion of traditional forest music (incorporating rhythms such as Zaouli, Ggegbe, Gahou, and Alloukou) and modern pop with a Latin sensibility. This spring, she will release her new single “ZANTE” which she produced with Grammy Award winner Christian Tumalan. Fely has released recordings under her own independent record label called FELY PRODUCTIONS/ZEWP. Her song "Goba," the first track of her latest CD "Maturite," won the 11th Annual Independent Music Award in the World Beat Song category for the year 2012. Among her projects is a fund to return to Africa and create a documentary on the Zaouli Dance mask of the Gouro tribe, a rhythm adapted in her award winning song “Goba.” -- Continue reading here: http://www.felymusic.com/bio/#sthash.2wklYjyv.dpuf Featuring: Paul Sonnabend - conga Jeff Simon - guitar Brian Andres - drums ..and more!
