Fely Tchaco Featured at Culture Kin

Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, 700 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA

San Francisco's Real Vocal String Quartet (RVSQ), featuring Irene Sazer, Sumaia Jackson, David Tangney and Sam Shuhan, present an expansive and fascinating evening of new compositions celebrating their new CD release Culture Kin in partnership with Women’s Audio Mission and in association with YBCA.

Culture Kin was envisioned and created in collaboration with artists from eight San Francisco international sister cities from Cote D’Voire, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Ireland, Brazil and Japan. RVSQ brings the world a little closer through a joyful interplay of vocal chamber music, improvisation, and unique instrumentation that can only be classified as genre-bursting music. The performance features Soo Yeon Lyuh, performing on the Haegum, the traditional Korean violin; Fely Tchaco from Cote D’Ivoire on vocals; Marta Roma from Barcelona, Spain on cello; Laura Inserra from Switzerland on Hang Drum, Máirtín de Cógáin from Ireland on vocals, and Roberta Valente from Brazil on pandeiro. Visual artist Seiko Tachibana from Japan collaborates on visual design. The highly acclaimed Bay Area saxophonist and composer George Brooks appears as a special guest in a piece influenced by South Indian rhythms. For more info, visit the website
